About the event
Carin Bloom has spent years studying the maritime histories embedded in trade goods and the vessels themselves. This evening, she brings that expertise to three spirits that shaped colonial commerce and culture.

We'll gather on deck to trace the journeys of rum from plantation and distillery to ship's hold to tavern glass. You'll sample two historically grounded cocktails and experience Carin's carefully selected Madeira, each one an artifact with its own complicated past. The drinks and the human cost is the story and tasting them is how you understand what traders, sailors, and drinkers knew about the world three centuries ago.
