Join our crew and sail from Charleston to Georgetown. Enjoy one of the best Wooden Boatshows on the Eastern Seaboard while living aboard and participating as part of our crew. You'll come aboard the evening before cast-off for a casual social with the crew, choose your berth and learn your way about the ship. Next day we set sail for Georgetown, approximately 12 hours north. You'll ferry from our anchorage to the Boat Show, Saturday and Sunday before sailing home to Charleston Sunday afternoon.

Come Sailing with us
(Coming in Late 2024 and 2025)
Do you have a passion for sailing or a love of adventure and the great outdoors? Sailing aboard Spirit of South Carolina might be your opportunity to experience the hands-on challenge of sailing a traditional ship. As guest crew, you will live and work alongside Spirit‘s professional crew and participate in all aspects of life aboard the ship — up to your level of interest and ability. You will stand watch, steer the vessel, help with ship’s maintenance, and more.
Welcome aboard!
We are looking forward to a busy sailing season in late 2024 -2025 featuring several guest crew experiences up and down the East Coast, including appearance at the Georgetown Wooden Boat Show, and Spring a Passage north to New England for Shipyard. As guest crew experiences are scheduled, they are added to the schedule below.
Be advised that all guest crew will be required to read and adhere to Spirit of South Carolina‘s COVID-19 policy.

Spirit of South Carolina typically sails with a crew of 12 men and women, including the captain, ship’s cook, two mates, bosun, engineer, and six deckhands. Spirit of South Carolina boasts 28 berths; 16 in the Forecastle and 12 in the main Saloon, shared by crew and passengers. Crew and Passengers are purposely intermingled to encourage conversation, shared questions, continuous learning, and shipmate camaraderie.
