About the event
HERE YE all those who would be sailors, yachtsmen, or topmen of the highest yard. Spend four days of on the deck of the Spirit of South Carolina with Captain James Peters, a licensed 500-ton USCG Master and professional mariner with more than 20 years underway. This multi-tiered course is designed to meet or exceed the basic New Volunteer Orientation training provided by Spirit staff, and will be covering topics from Tall Ships 101 through Advanced sail evolutions; including line and sail handling, anchoring, and man overboard* procedures.
The goal of this workshop is not only to train and accelerate our newest volunteers, but to provide all of our staff, crew, and existing volunteers with the latest in skills development and ensure crew consistency.
*This FREE workshop is open to the public and is designed to satisfy the New Volunteer Orientation requirement.
